Enterprise Vendors Provide Products & Services that Support Users of the World's Most Popular Open Source Database

CUPERTINO, Calif. -- March 27, 2006 -- MySQL AB, developer of the world's most popular open source database, today announced that tech industry leaders IBM and EMC have joined the MySQL Network Certified Partner Program. Among other co-marketing and promotion activities with MySQL, both companies will be sponsors of next month's MySQL Users Conference in Santa Clara, California (http://www.mysqluc.com).

The multi-tiered MySQL Network Certified Partner Program enables ISV partners to certify that their software has been tested and is compatible with the MySQL certified database server and related MySQL tools. The program also offers opportunities to hardware vendors and consulting companies to leverage the growing adoption of MySQL within mainstream IT organizations.

"We are thrilled to have enterprise players of this stature become our global strategic alliance partners," said Zack Urlocker, executive vice president of marketing for MySQL AB. "Both open source developers and corporate customers alike will appreciate MySQL's support for IBM and EMC's popular IT infrastructure and platforms."

MySQL is recommending IBM WebSphere DataStage as an ETL and integration component of its enterprise data warehouse Scale-Out Architecture reference stack. IBM WebSphere DataStage customers running MySQL Network have the assurance of a certified ETL and data integration solution supported by both companies for their data warehousing and other enterprise applications. The MySQL database supports a range of IBM platforms, including IBM Linux on POWER hardware; i5, p5, xSeries, zSeries, BladeCenter and OpenPOWER servers -- in addition to the AIX, Windows and Linux operating systems. It also supports IBM TotalStorage hardware and software including enterprise-grade products for data storage, protection, virtualization and management.

MySQL also integrates with IBM's WebSphere Application Server Community Edition (http://solutions.mysql.com/technology/?item=919), WebSphere Application Server, WebSphere Studio, Rational and Lotus Domino products, as well as IBM Global Services. For example, IBM services developed a suite of MySQL-based applications to assist in the south-Asia Tsunami relief efforts: http://www-1.ibm.com/services/us/bcrs/pdf/rp_2005-03-28_tsunami.pdf

EMC offers MySQL Network customers a range of enterprise-grade products for data storage, protection and management, as well as virtualization and replication. Customers can run MySQL with EMC CLARiiON and Symmetrix storage arrays, and create restartable replications of MySQL databases with EMC MirrorView, SnapView, Timefinder, and SRDF.

In addition, MySQL has a long-standing successful partnership with VMware, where thousands of joint users have taken advantage of the free trial download for the pre-configured MySQL virtual appliance: http://www.vmware.com/vmtn/vm/mysql.html.

EMC hardware and software products are recommended components of MySQL's Web and data warehouse Scale-Out Architecture reference stack, which MySQL AB endorses for its enterprise customers. For more information on the partnership, visit: http://solutions.mysql.com/EMC.
